It’s been years since we’ve spent much time around Canton, North Carolina.
Back in my college days, I had a great friend named Charles Nations—an amazing guy who was from Bethel. Other than that connection, our travels have usually taken us through Candler, Waynesville, or Maggie Valley. Canton just wasn’t a place we found ourselves visiting very often.
But that’s about to change.
Recently, we headed to Canton to attend Stompin’ at River Farm Escape, one of the farm’s regularly scheduled events that brings together music, dancing, food, family fun, and community spirit in one beautiful setting.
From the moment we arrived, it felt like a celebration.
The stunning mountain views and rolling farm landscape provided the perfect backdrop as folks gathered to enjoy the afternoon. Soon enough, the talented Green Valley Cloggers took center stage, stomping, spinning, and entertaining the crowd with their energetic performances (video coming soon). Watching generations come together to enjoy Appalachian traditions is always something special.
Of course, no great event is complete without good food and friendly faces.
While waiting for the clogging to begin, we met one of the event’s youngest entrepreneurs, Ellie Mae, the adorable little star behind The Lemonade Stand. Alongside her family crew of adult chaperones, she was serving up some delicious drinks that were perfect for a warm day on the farm. It’s impossible not to smile when you stop by her stand.
