🌴 Explore South Florida: Our “Down South” Home Away From Home

South Florida isn’t just a destination for us—it’s where so many of our family and friends call home. From quick visits to long stays, we’ve spent plenty of time soaking up the sunshine, reconnecting with loved ones, and exploring the vibrant coastal communities that stretch along Florida’s east coast. It’s a place that always feels familiar, welcoming, and full of life.

Here’s a look at some of our favorite spots “down South”:

🌆 Miami: Energy, Culture & Endless Sunshine

Miami is bold, colorful, and always buzzing. Whether we’re visiting friends or just passing through, there’s always something happening—from the lively rhythms of Little Havana to the creative murals of Wynwood. And of course, a walk along South Beach never gets old. It’s a city that blends culture, cuisine, and coastline in a way that’s totally its own.

🛥️ Fort Lauderdale: Easygoing Coastal Living

Fort Lauderdale feels like a breath of fresh air. With its winding canals and laid-back vibe, it’s perfect for slowing down a bit. We love spending time along Las Olas Boulevard, grabbing a bite, or just enjoying the water views. It’s one of those places where you can easily settle in and feel at home.

🌴 West Palm Beach: Artsy & Lively

West Palm Beach brings together culture and coastal charm. Between waterfront strolls, local events, and a growing arts scene, there’s always something to explore. It’s a great place to meet up with friends, catch a show, or just enjoy a sunny afternoon by the water.

🏖️ Boca Raton: Relaxed & Refined

Boca Raton offers a quieter, more polished side of South Florida. It’s where we go to unwind—beautiful beaches, peaceful surroundings, and plenty of spots to enjoy a slow, relaxing day. Whether it’s brunch, beach time, or a scenic walk, Boca always delivers a calm, easy rhythm.

🎨 Delray Beach: Small-Town Feel, Big Personality

Delray Beach is one of those places that instantly draws you in. Atlantic Avenue is always full of life, with great food, local shops, and a strong arts vibe. It’s the kind of town where you can spend the whole day wandering, discovering something new around every corner.

🌊 Hollywood: Classic Florida Charm

Hollywood keeps things simple—in the best way. Its beachfront Broadwalk is perfect for biking, walking, or just enjoying the ocean breeze. It’s family-friendly, relaxed, and full of that classic Florida feel we love.

🌞 Why We Keep Going Back

With loved ones spread throughout South Florida and all along the East Coast, this region has become a meaningful part of our travels. It’s more than just beaches—it’s connection, community, and countless memories made “down South.”

Whether you’re planning a visit or just dreaming of warmer days, South Florida always has a way of calling you back.

West Palm Beach

Years ago, a bunch of us met at Rocco’s Tacos in West Palm Beach for a reunion, and this is where it all began for us. From there, we started thinking of travel, tourism, and business opportunities in the south Florida area. We celebrated at ER Bradley’s Saloon and had such a great time. Also check out Clematis Street & Downtown West Palm Beach and Rosemary Square for lots of activities.

Miami

Miami is a lot of fun. Thanks to Scott at Funtastic Events, we toured the streets, viewed the art, and tried some of their great restaurants and beer bars. The street art at Wynwood is simply amazing. And then you have all of these little cool shops and eateries sprinkled everywhere. We stopped by 1 800 Lucky and it was this Asian food court with dishes from Japan, Korea, the Philippines, China and more. So good! The Butcher Shop & Beer Garden was also great.

Delray Beach

We have so much fun at Delray Beach. Incredible restaurants, beaches, nightlife, and shops. The Wakodohatchee Wetlands are beautiful, the Morikami Museum & Japanese Gardens are a must see, and the whole Downtown Delray area is just so much fun. We stopped for lunch at Vic & Angelos and it was so delicious!

Ft. Lauderdale

This is one of the first places we ever visited in Florida! The Riverwalk is amazing, and the Ft Lauderdale Beach has so much to do that we could spend days there. With delicious cuisine from restaurants such as Lona Cocina, Steak 954, Rendezvous Bar and Grill, and Wild Sea Las Olas; you can’t go wrong.

Lake Worth

The Lake Worth area has a cute little downtown scene with lots of great food and entertainment. We had lunch at Victorio’s Peruvian Cuisine and it was so delicious. We also stopped by Memory Trees to see their beautiful leather and art work. Walking the Lake Worth Pier was wonderful, along with Benny’s on the Beach and the Casino building which is not a gambling casino, we tried.
