Lately, we’ve been finding ourselves heading northwest out of Asheville quite a bit, spending more time exploring the Leicester area. And before anybody asks, no, we’re not talking about Leicester, England. This is Leicester, Asheville style—mountain views, winding roads, friendly folks, and some pretty darn good places to eat.
A Great Diner Just Outside Asheville: Salty Goat Grill in Leicester, NC
One spot that’s quickly become a favorite stop for us is the Salty Goat Grill.
If you’re cruising through Leicester and your stomach starts making decisions for you, this is definitely a place worth pulling into.
On our latest visit, we decided to tackle a couple of classics—a Reuben and a Club Sandwich. Both delivered exactly what you want from a local grill: fresh ingredients, generous portions, and flavors that keep you reaching for “just one more bite.”
The Reuben was packed with flavor, while the Club hit all the right notes with layers of goodness stacked between perfectly toasted bread. And let’s not forget the sides, because they deserve some love too. Everything that came out was fresh, tasty, and made for a satisfying meal.
What really stood out, though, was the staff.
You can tell a lot about a place by how they treat their guests, and the folks at Salty Goat Grill made us feel right at home. Friendly service, welcoming smiles, and that small-town hospitality that Western North Carolina is known for.
That’s one of the things we love most about getting out and exploring communities like Leicester. You never know what local gem you’re going to discover next.
