When we got near the U-Haul location, there were trucks floating, boxes gone, muddy water everywhere. Cars stopped in the highway, police trying to keep folks safe, the asphalt slippery, the river powerful. That was Hurricane Helene — a flood river tearing through our city, leaving a scar that’s still healing.
