Sometimes the best finds happen when you’re not even looking. We were in North Asheville — Woodfin, to be exact — when we stumbled upon a spot that deserves way more buzz: The Village Porch.
This sports bar and restaurant sits in Reynolds Village, a development that, for years, felt more like a ghost town. Back in the day, the previous developer was running the show, and momentum just never came. Businesses like the YMCA anchored the area, and the much-loved Baked Pie Company gave it a momentary spark, but sustaining energy proved difficult.
Now, things are shifting. The development has sold, and with new opportunity comes new strategy. And at the center of it all, setting the tone for change, is The Village Porch.
They’ve actually been here a few years, but this was our first visit — and wow, what a vibe. We walked into a bar packed with sports fans, great energy, and loud cheers for their teams. Patrons smiled, waved hello, and the staff kept the crowd humming along with ease.
We grabbed a few burgers, a cheesesteak, and some brews. Everything hit the spot. We met a couple of locals, talked sports, and just enjoyed ourselves. The whole experience reminded us of other sports bars around Asheville — but this one had a brighter energy, a cleaner feel, and, honestly, better food.
Reynolds Village has the bones to be a true destination, and after this visit, The Village Porch makes us believe it might finally happen.
