There are some places in Asheville that you visit once…
And then there are places like the Biltmore Estate — where you find yourself coming back again and again.
For us, it’s almost become part of our routine.
We try to get out onto the grounds regularly — even if it’s just for a quick reset, a drive through the property, or a walk with those mountain views that never get old. And somehow… we always forget to pick up our wine club bottles from the winery 🍷😄
Then there are the days we’re there for work — capturing engagement sessions and weddings across the estate. There’s just something about Biltmore that makes every moment feel cinematic. The gardens, the architecture, the light… it all comes together in a way that’s hard to replicate anywhere else.
And other days? We’re pulling up to The Inn on Biltmore Estate, picking up guests, and heading out for a full day of exploring — whether that’s a distillery, brewery, or winery tour across North Carolina.
So yeah… we’re here a lot. And honestly, we wouldn’t have it any other way.
A Little History Behind the Magic
The Biltmore Estate isn’t just beautiful — it’s historic on a level that’s hard to wrap your head around.
Built by George Washington Vanderbilt II and completed in 1895, the Biltmore House remains the largest privately owned home in the United States, with 250 rooms spread across 8,000 acres of preserved Blue Ridge Mountain landscape.
Vanderbilt envisioned it as a grand country retreat — a place for family, friends, and creativity. And he brought in some of the best minds of the time to make it happen.
Architect Richard Morris Hunt designed the château-inspired home, while famed landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted (the same mind behind Central Park) crafted the estate’s grounds — from formal gardens to rolling pastoral landscapes.
What makes Biltmore so special is that it’s not frozen in time — it’s still alive, evolving, and welcoming guests from all over the world.
What You Can Experience at Biltmore
There’s no one way to “do” Biltmore — and that’s part of what keeps it so exciting.
You can tour the house itself, stepping into rooms filled with original art, antiques, and stories from another era.
You can wander through the gardens — from the Italian Garden to the Rose Garden — or take in the peaceful beauty of the Conservatory.
You can spend an afternoon at the winery (and maybe remember your wine better than we do 😄), enjoying tastings right on the estate.
Feeling active? There are miles of trails for walking, biking, and even horseback riding.
And if you want to turn it into a full experience, staying overnight at The Inn on Biltmore Estate or Village Hotel on Biltmore Estate adds a whole new level to the visit.
Every season brings something different — spring blooms, summer greens, fall colors, and winter magic.
Why 2026 Is the Time to Go
If Asheville is on your list for 2026 — the Biltmore Estate should be right at the top of it.
Whether it’s your first visit or your fifth, there’s always something new to experience. And if you’ve never been… it’s truly a must-see.
And if you have been?
Well… it’s probably about that time to go again.
Take the time to explore the grounds, slow down, and really take it all in. It’s one of those places that reminds you how special Western North Carolina really is.
