West Asheville is getting ready to welcome a brand-new eatery — Papa Dunk’s, opening its doors Monday, October 20, 2025 at 1475 Patton Avenue, right in front of the bowling alley in the old ice cream shop location. 🍔🍟
Papa Dunk’s Is Firing Up the Grill in West Asheville!
The news broke today on The Local Joint (their sister restaurant in Fairview) Facebook page:
“Good morning Fairview friends! We’re opening the doors to our new sister restaurant, Papa Dunk’s, for a special preview today! Stop by 1475 Patton Avenue between 12pm-4pm for a free sampling of our menu items, and a killer milkshake.”
We couldn’t resist. Though the preview was meant for family and friends — which we are neither — we happened to be nearby and crashed the party. Let’s just say… it was worth it.
We sampled the hot dog and onion rings, and another guest dug into a cheeseburger with cheese so perfectly melted it practically hugged the patty. The food was fresh, flavorful, and exactly what you’d expect from the team behind The Local Joint — comfort food done right.
The crew is working hard this weekend to fine-tune everything before the grand opening, and while there’s no big sign out front yet (just one on the door for now), trust us — it’s on the way.
Papa Dunk’s is the kind of local comeback story West Asheville loves — a once-quiet corner of Patton Avenue coming back to life with great food, friendly faces, and that laid-back local charm that keeps Asheville’s food scene thriving.
