Let’s just say this: if you know, you know.
And if you don’t — it’s time to fix that.
We recently stopped by Golden Chips Fish & Chicken Galore, tucked into the Dingle Creek Crossing shopping center in South Asheville, and we were blown away by this unassuming little spot serving up big flavors.
🔥 What We Tried
We went for lunch and ordered:
– Fish & Chips with sweet potato fries
– The Cod Sandwich
Both were top tier. The fish was crispy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked — not overly greasy, not under-seasoned. Just delicious. You can taste the quality and the care in how everything’s made.
🦐 Don’t Miss Shrimp Saturday
Yes, you read that right: Shrimp Saturday is a thing here — and apparently, it’s one of the best spots in Asheville to get shrimp done right. So if you’re a seafood fan, plan your weekend around it.
And beyond the fish and chicken?
Golden Chips offers a surprisingly diverse menu:
Belgian-style fries 🍟, homemade sauces, sandwiches, desserts, and even yuca fries (a Honduran nod from one of the family members behind the counter). And salads are coming soon.
🌍 A Global Story, Made Local
This isn’t just another fast casual spot — Golden Chips is a family-run concept with international roots.
Owner Giancarlo Caridi and his family (originally from Italy and Guatemala) launched the concept years ago with a food trailer in Guatemala, then opened a small shop in New Orleans’ French Quarter, before eventually relocating to Asheville and bringing their dream here.
Their specialty? Belgian-style fries — hand-cut, double-fried, thick-cut, golden perfection. Pair them with one of their many dipping sauces and you’ll instantly understand the hype. Giancarlo says it best:
“I wasn’t a fan of fries… but when I tried these — you can’t stop eating them.”
📍Where To Find Them
Golden Chips is located in the Dingle Creek Crossing center on Hendersonville Rd, just a few doors down from Green Sage Café — in the spot that once housed a beloved TCBY (yes, nostalgia!), and more recently, a Jimmy John’s.
Now? It’s Golden Chips’ time to shine.
Quick, delicious, globally inspired, and locally rooted — this is one of those spots you try once… and keep coming back to.
🛑 Final Verdict

✅ Family-owned and full of heart
✅ 100% worth a visit (especially on Shrimp Saturday)
We’ll be back soon — probably for the chicken tenders with sauces and a side of yuca fries. Because once you’ve been to Golden Chips… you just know. 😋
