Grand Bohemian Asheville: A New Chapter Begins After Hurricane Helene

Right outside the iconic gates of the Biltmore Estate stands a hotel that has defined elegance, culture, and art for over a decade—The Grand Bohemian Hotel Asheville. After taking a major hit during Hurricane Helene, this beloved destination is now undergoing a bold transformation, staying true to its legacy while stepping into a refreshed future.

.

We’ve shared so many special moments here, and Gary was honored to tour the property with Richard Kessler himself, along with his incredible daughter, Laura, who walked us through the hotel, inspiring us with the vision behind it all. Today, as renovations begin, we reflect on their deep commitment not just to luxury, but to art, storytelling, and community.

.

🖼️ The Grand Bohemian Hotel Asheville opened in 2009 as part of The Kessler Collection, a portfolio of boutique luxury hotels founded by Richard C. Kessler, a pioneer in the American hospitality industry. Known for blending art galleries, fine dining, and immersive design, the Kessler brand redefined what a hotel experience could be—where every room feels like a curated exhibit and every stay, a journey of its own.

.

🌍 From the Grand Bohemian Charleston to the Bohemian Lodge in Savannah, and the stunning Grand Bohemian in Greenville, SC, each property reflects Kessler’s belief that hospitality should be soulful, rich with personality, and full of discovery. And yes, we’re lucky enough to have one of the best hotels in the world—right here in Asheville, NC.

.

💔 While many pieces of Richard Kessler’s personal art collection were lost in the floods of Helene, the heart of the Grand Bohemian remains. And with its grand reopening scheduled for May 2025, we know something truly magical is on the way.

.

Thank you to the Kessler family, the staff at Grand Bohemian, and all those helping bring this Asheville icon back to life. We can’t wait to walk through those doors again.
