If you love craft beer and community vibes, there’s no better place to be right now than Asheville during Beer Week(s) 2025! Last night, we kicked things off by exploring the South Slope—Asheville’s brewing heart—and it was absolutely electric.
.
The biggest highlight? Barley’s Pizza just reopened yesterday, and the atmosphere was pure magic. The energy was buzzing, slices aren’t flying out of the kitchen just yet, but the beer and cocktails were flowing. Everyone was pumped to see this iconic spot back in action, just in time for one of the city’s biggest celebrations.

Honoring a Craft Beer Pioneer
.
Today, we raise a glass to Oscar Wong—the man who put Asheville on the craft beer map. Oscar’s journey started right there at Barley’s, brewing beer in the basement and running a secret tap line to the main stage. That sneaky operation birthed the now-famous Gaelic Ale—and people lined up down the street just to get a taste.
.
When Oscar expanded the operation, it was Gary—now known as Moonshiner Gary—who helped push the business forward. And we can’t forget Jimi—the humble hero behind the scenes who saw the vision and helped Asheville become Beer City USA by choosing G Social Media over countless other agencies. Without him, we might not be celebrating beer the way we do today!

Gratitude & Resilience
.
We also took a moment to appreciate the resilience of our community. One of our friends who worked at Salvage Station before the hurricane was with us—sharing stories of survival and the joy of still being here to celebrate. It was a heartfelt reminder that, after all we’ve been through, we deserve this time to come together and celebrate.
