After hearing The Cuban Bear rave about a little eatery in Woodfin, we added Smokee’s Breakfast & Lunch to our must-try list — and we are so glad we did. From the moment we walked in, the food was outstanding, the staff was warm, and the atmosphere spilled over with happy faces and genuine hospitality.
Asheville Breakfast & Lunch: Delish Munchin’ at Smokee’s in Woodfin
Strategically situated between Asheville and Weaverville, this spot gives both communities an easy, central place to refuel. Woodfin’s growing population and its increasing appeal make it a natural fit for standout diners that serve both locals and visitors.
A bit about Woodfin: though the town was officially incorporated in 1971, the community has roots going back to the mid-19th century and was named for Nicholas Washington Woodfin, a prominent early North Carolina lawyer. Over the last few decades, Woodfin has experienced residential growth, walking-friendly commercial zones, and renewed interest in supporting local businesses. The town hugs the French Broad River, gives easy outdoor access, and is quietly turning into a foodie corridor for folks willing to venture just outside Asheville.
Now, back to the menu. I can’t stop thinking about their El Padrino — their version of a Cuban sandwich — it might be one of the best in the Asheville area. The Big Pharma sub (their twist on chicken cutlet parmesan) was just as memorable. I wish I could taste every sandwich right now just by reading the menu — their creativity shines through. They’re located in Creekside Commons, sharing space with a cute ice cream shop (as you’ll see in the photos).
If you haven’t been yet — do yourself a favor: get out that way, eat here, and leave smiling. We were! Can’t wait to return.
