A Beloved Home Returns: Corner Kitchen Reopens August 11, 2025

Asheville’s heart beats stronger today. After nearly a year of rebuilding, Corner Kitchen in Biltmore Village is ready to welcome us back—officially reopening Monday, August 11, 2025. What was once a scene of gut-wrenching flood damage has transformed into a symbol of renewal and hope.

A Patchwork of Legacy and Resilience

.
Nestled in a charming pebble-dash house built circa 1895, Corner Kitchen has been an Asheville staple since its opening in February 2004. Its roots are as rich as the food it serves—this building once housed the Biltmore Village hiring offices and, in the 1930s, a café called The Biltmore. Over the decades, it’s survived floods in 1916, 1940, and again in 2004—each time, the team rebuilt and carried on.

Helene Hit Hard — But They Hit Back Harder

.

On September 27, 2024, Tropical Storm Helene struck with catastrophic power, flooding the first floor of Corner Kitchen “almost to the ceiling” and forcing layoffs across their staff. Yet, rather than surrender, the team stepped up. With flood insurance, unwavering grit, and community support, they gutted the interior and began rebuilding. As they rebuilt, they honored the past—sealing time capsules into the new walls, containing menus, heartfelt letters, and artifacts from the day mud overtook the village.

Reopening as Revival

.
Set to reopen August 11, the restaurant isn’t just reopening walls—it’s reigniting soul. The return of tables and familiar comfort foods like shrimp and grits, bourbon‑sorghum French toast, and Sunburst Farms trout means more than meals—it means Biltmore Village is alive again
