Tucked along Merrimon Avenue, Saffron India Barrel House is quickly becoming one of North Asheville’s most talked-about dining spots, and for good reason. This is a family that planted roots in Asheville and built something special from the ground up, pouring passion, patience, and real love into every step of the journey.
We first stopped by a few months ago when they were just getting started. You could feel the potential — a vision taking shape, a kitchen dialing in flavors, and a family fully committed to sharing their culture through food. Fast-forward to now, and wow… they’ve gone next level.

This most recent visit turned into a full-on feast, and every dish hit hard in the best way possible.
We enjoyed:
- Butter Chicken – rich, balanced, and deeply comforting
- Chicken Korma – smooth, nutty, and layered with flavor
- Chicken Xacuti – bold, aromatic, and unforgettable
- Perfectly cooked rice
- Goat Cheese Naan – yes, GOAT CHEESE NAAN… and it’s phenomenal
Everything we tried was absolutely amazing — the kind of food that makes you pause mid-bite and look around the table like, “Okay… this is special.”

We don’t find ourselves on the north side of town as often as we used to — but trust us — we’ll be making the trip a lot more now.
