A Brief History of Downtown After 5

Established in 1988, Downtown After 5 was conceived as a way to revitalize Asheville’s downtown area and foster community engagement. Over the years, it has grown into a highly anticipated monthly event, drawing thousands to North Lexington Avenue every third Friday from April through September. Attendees enjoy an eclectic mix of live music, diverse food vendors, local brews, and a vibrant marketplace showcasing regional artisans.
